Purchased in 1967 and incorporated in 1974, Polacak was named for a region in Belarus from where many Greater Cleveland Belarusan Americans called home. These proud immigrants became business owners, worked as tradesman or in factories around Cleveland, Ohio. Collectively, they raised the necessary funds to create and build a Community Center to preserve and further their Belarusan heritage, language and culture.
